2nd Graders Visit Seattle Asian Art Museum
Students will go on guided tour at the SAAM and engage in private workshop to create their own masterpieces
Student Grant Recipients Total: 49Â
Estimated Award Amount: $456.19*
The 2nd graders are heading to the Seattle Asian Art Museum for an immersive, hands-on learning experience. This opportunity will allow students from Ms. Littlejohn’s and Ms. Richmond’s classes to explore the world of art beyond the classroom. STARS funding will cover district bus transportation and all program costs, ensuring that every student can participate in this enriching experience.
Led by expert docents, students will take part in inquiry-based tours designed to spark curiosity and personal connections to art. They’ll closely examine works from around the world, discovering how artists use line, shape, color, and texture to tell stories and express ideas. To deepen their learning, students will then step into a guided art workshop, where SAM teaching artists and studio volunteers will help them create their own masterpieces.
Beyond the museum walls, this experience will enhance classroom learning, foster creative thinking, and inspire students to see art as a powerful form of communication. The day will also include lunch outdoors on the beautiful museum grounds—another way for students to soak in the inspiration of their surroundings.
