Student Grant Recipients Total: 71Â
Award Amount: $8,000
This year’s fifth and sixth graders are set to enjoy an unforgettable outdoor education adventure at Camp Cedar Springs towards the end of the 2024-25 school year. At camp, students embark on a one-of-a-kind outdoor school experience, rotating through stations to learn survival skills, teamwork, and hands-on science — all in the beauty of nature.
This cherished rite of passage, held every two years, gives students the opportunity to grow, connect, and create lifelong memories outside the classroom. The total cost for this expanded two-day camp experience is approximately $14,600*, and STARS is proud to contribute $8,000 to cover district transportation, matching t-shirts that foster community spirit, and other essential expenses. The remaining costs will be shared with students' families, ensuring that this incredible opportunity is a collaborative effort between STARS and our school community.
While at camp, students will participate in archery, explore early logging history, practice survival and shelter building, and engage in hands-on learning about wetlands and forest ecology (science). They will also challenge themselves on the climbing wall and enjoy classic campfire fun. This program fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and environmental stewardship while promoting physical and mental well-being—a perfect blend of learning and adventure.
