First Graders to Dive into Marine Science at the Aquarium

Students to observe ocean species first hand, noticing their body structures and how they use them to survive

Student Grant Recipients Total: 43

Estimated Award Amount: $1,050*

Edmonds Elementary first graders dive into hands-on learning with a visit to the Seattle Aquarium, made possible by full funding from the STARS Foundation that includes district transportation fees and tickets for staff, students and chaperones. The field trip will enrich their Plants and Animals Science Unit by giving students the chance to observe marine mammals, tide pool invertebrates, and other species up close. Students explore how body structures help plants and animals survive, applying and extending their classroom learning in a real-world setting.
